Post-Translational Modifications
Background
- Ras function is regulated by post-translational modification. These modifications (prenylation, palmitoylation, bi-ubiquitination, nitroslyation) primarily affect Ras localization.
- Other modifications (e.g. mono-ubiquitination) are known to regulate Ras signaling activity.
Approach
- The identification of other Ras modifications may lead to new therapeutic avenues.
- We have found that K-Ras is acetylated on lysine 104 (K104).
