Background

  • Ras function is regulated by post-translational modification. These modifications (prenylation, palmitoylation, bi-ubiquitination, nitroslyation) primarily affect Ras localization.
  • Other modifications (e.g. mono-ubiquitination) are known to regulate Ras signaling activity.

Approach

  • The identification of other Ras modifications may lead to new therapeutic avenues. 
  • We have found that K-Ras is acetylated on lysine 104 (K104).
